Diversity and Inclusion: Better Together

We respectfully acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which our Centre operates, the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation and pay our respects to their elder’s past, present and emerging.

Feminist Framework

A Feminist therapeutic framework is utilised across all our services, meaning we understand mental health within a gendered context. The importance of the socio-political and cultural context of each person is carefully considered throughout treatment at our Centre. We strive to empower women, girls, non-binary, gender-diverse and trans women in the therapeutic process by demystifying therapy with an open, transparent dialogue and by developing ways of working as a team rather than by conforming to traditional models that promote a power imbalance as seen in other forms of therapy. Our work incites a call to action which aims to empower all clients at our Centre.

Culturally Inclusive

We welcome people from diverse cultural, religious, racial or linguistic backgrounds at our Centre and acknowledge the value of our differences. We respect the varied skills and perspectives our culturally diverse clients, colleagues and broader network bring to the Centre and let them guide us to create a more authentically inclusive environment.

Disability Inclusive

We are a disability inclusive Centre. We recognise the value in people who are neurodivergent or differently abled. It is our priority to make sure that people with disability can access and fully participate in services provided by our Centre. We take a client-centred approach and tailor our services to an individual’s needs.

Trans and Gender-Diverse Inclusive

We welcome trans and gender-diverse people at our Centre. As a proudly Feminist organisation we welcome all people who are oppressed by the patriarchy. We believe our Feminism is stronger when it encompasses the voices and diversity of experiences from our trans and gender-diverse community. Our Centre is a safe space, free from discrimination and violence often faced by our trans and gender-diverse community.

Sexuality Inclusive

Whatever your sexual orientation, we welcome you. Our Centre is a safe environment, free from discrimination and violence often faced by our queer community. We believe everyone deserves equal access to opportunities and resources regardless of their sexual preferences.

Age Inclusive

We welcome people of all ages to access the many services provided by our Centre, and to apply for advertised employment opportunities.

Men

Men are welcome at our Centre as carers and support people for our clients, however we do not offer our services directly to men. If you need a referral to a service for men, please ask our friendly staff for assistance.

Accountability

Our Centre is committed to upholding our values and embedding them within our policies, procedures, communications and all other aspects of our organisation. Our Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Group meet regularly to ensure that we are continuing to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace and to implement improvements.
